Community Benefits

Community Benefits

  • Henry Mayo Hospital is the only major medical center in the growing Santa Clarita Valley and approval of the Master Plan assured that local residents will continue to have local access to their increasing healthcare needs. That means fewer people have to travel out of the area for care.
  • The new hospital wing will add up to 120 much-needed beds to the Henry Mayo campus, resulting in greater access to care and more private rooms.
  • Among the clinical features contained in the Master Plan are operating rooms, new private rooms for maternity patients (and others) and the development of "Centers of Excellence."
  • Henry Mayo is the only trauma center in the Santa Clarita Valley and the heliport included in the Master Plan is required in order for the hospital to retain this important designation.
  • The three new medical office buildings will help our community attract even more top-notch specialists ... and that means more choice and convenience for everyone.
  • Henry Mayo's new campus is being designed to not only meet all environmental requirements but to balance the need for growth with neighborhood quality of life issues such as noise, traffic and lighting. In fact, as part of the Master Plan, Henry Mayo will be "gifting" to the city land currently on hospital property that will allow for a widening of McBean Parkway and construction of an additional lane to improve traffic flow.
  • Henry Mayo is currently the fifth largest employer in Santa Clarita Valley and the new construction will have an additional and significant positive economic impact on our community in terms of business revenue, wages and taxes.
  • The benefits the community will derive from the fulfillment of Henry Mayo's Master Plan are consistent with the hospital's not-for-profit mission and 33-year history of serving the people of the Santa Clarita Valley.
  • Significant community input has been integrated into the plan being proposed.
  • The overwhelming majority of community leaders along with the medical staff of the hospital itself supported the expansion project because they know that it is good for the community and will enhance both quality and accessibility of care.
