Updates & Status: Key Goals

New Operating Room & Expanded Surgical Department Completed!

Advanced care for our patients

Henry Mayo’s Surgical Department – often referred to as the “OR” – has undergone a state-of--the-art transformation. The remodel and expansion, which was completed in October 2011, is yet another piece of Henry Mayo’s expansion efforts designed to meet the community’s growing healthcare needs and transform Henry Mayo into a world-class modern medical center.

The new operating room is much larger than the current surgical suites and will accommodate increased surgery cases and complexities, allow for easier access and maneuverability, and will include advanced technological and mechanical upgrades such as high-definition video monitors, digital monitoring and immediate access to electronic medical records.

In addition to the new and much larger OR, the expansion includes the build-out of two more recovery stations, and the comprehensive renovation of the current Gastrointestinal (GI) Lab, and a remodel of the physicians’ and nurses’ lounges and locker rooms--all aimed at providing Henry Mayo patients with first-rate surgical care.

With the completion of this project, Henry Mayo now has a total of nine operating rooms –five inpatient ORs in the main hospital (including one dedicated to C-Sections) and four outpatient ORs in the Outpatient Surgery Center.
