May 1, 2011 marked the official opening of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s new parking structure and helipad, bringing improved access to the facility and faster emergency/trauma care for the community.
The new six-level parking structure - five levels above ground and one subterranean level - includes 750 parking spaces and is located on the hospital property along McBean Parkway at Avenida Navarre.
The new helipad, located atop the roof of the new parking structure affords improved access to trauma services for individuals impacted by life-threatening injury or illness. This temporary location for the helipad will accommodate Air Medical Transport directly to Henry Mayo's trauma center until a permanent helipad is constructed atop the new patient tower. It will allow critically injured patients to stay in their local community near their loved ones and will help save lives when seconds can mean the difference between life and death, health and disability.
The new structure also includes an abundance beautiful landscaping, including the relocation of five very large Sycamore trees that now reside in front of the structure and the addition of over 600 shrubs and plants and 50 new Crape Myrtle, Sycamore and Pine trees.
