Upholding our Commitment to the Community

During our expansion efforts, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital is committed to balancing the community's need for additional medical services with the quality of life of our surrounding neighbors.

As part of that commitment, we want to update you on some of the measures we have put in place to discourage visitors and/or employees from parking in surrounding neighborhoods during construction of our new parking structure.   Below are a few of the efforts currently underway:

Henry Mayo has undertaken a process to monitor the Valencia neighborhood adjacent to the hospital:

  • The hospital has an employee periodically serving as "neighborhood parking patrol" stationed at streets adjacent to the hospital to ensure staff is adhering to our community commitment.
  • The Hospital is conducting periodic surveillance of the neighboring streets by utilizing "spotters" in unmarked cars to check on unusual parking patterns and encourage compliance with our commitment.
  • Alternative parking arrangements have been made for hospital staff, volunteers and students to ensure visitors, patients and the neighborhood are not impacted by the temporary absence of parking spaces during construction.  Day-time Hospital staff park in a dedicated lot at the Westfield Town Center during the week and continuous shuttle transportation brings staff directly to the hospital campus from 6:15 am to 7:15 pm.

Henry Mayo is proud of the work we are doing to increase the care we provide to our community.  We welcome your comments and input on our efforts to reinforce and uphold our community commitment.
