Why is building a helipad necessary?

This is a critical piece of the hospitals expansion as it will allow Henry Mayo to retain our status as the only trauma center designated to serve the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding area.  With this designation as a trauma center, we can provide immediate and comprehensive emergency medical services to patients suffering traumatic injuries - thereby giving victims the best possible chance for survival and recovery. 
 
While we cannot determine when a life-threatening emergency will occur, utilizing historical data, the hospital anticipates about three helicopter emergency landings each week.
